1. The United States-North Korea summit was held today, and the Joint Statement was signed by U.S. President Trump and North Korea's Chairman Kim. We welcome this historic outcome as a step forward to peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
2. The Joint Statement sets out four items such as building of a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula while reaffirming the Panmunjom Declaration. What is important, however, is the establishment and implementation of the concrete process that makes the content of the items irreversible.
3. We expect Japanese government to have effective views on our national security reflecting the changing situations of the Korean Peninsula, and to pursue negotiations for normalizing Japan-North Korea diplomatic relations that cover solutions of the abductions issue in a strategic manner.
