Statement by Yoshimitsu Kobayashi, Chairman of Keizai Doyukai On Work Style Reform Bill
March 1, 2018
Yoshimitsu Kobayashi
Chairman, Keizai Doyukai
- The government of Japan announced today its plan to remove expansion of the discretionary labor system from the draft bill on work style reform. We seriously regret such a move in the environment where Japan must diversify its workers' working style and increase its productivity lagging behind global standards.
- It is now essential to accelerate the realization of a society that allows each worker to select a various working style that best suits his or her living conditions, and there is a pressing need to enhance creativity in labor toward the promotion of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Taking these into consideration, we request the government to ensure the passage of the relevant bills that incorporate the establishment of the Sophisticated Professional System and other important issues.
