Statement by Yoshimitsu Kobayashi, Chairman of Keizai Doyukai On Fourth Abe Cabinet

1. We welcome the reappointment of all Cabinet members - the lineup same as the one after the August reshuffle - for the fourth Abe Cabinet launched today. We request the government and the ruling parties to vigorously address the mounting issues for solutions.
2. The issues of the last general election were not entirely focused as a result of the abrupt dissolution following the opening of the extraordinary Diet session and the drastic changes in the environment surrounding the opposition parties. The special Diet session has convened after the ruling coalition's overwhelming victory in the election with over two-thirds of the seats held by the pro-constitutional amendment camp. Because of that, however, the ruling parties should initiate the deliberate policy debates for the public to follow with ease.
3. We are aware of full-fledged discussions starting after the election at a variety of forum such as Council on Investment for the Future, Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy, and Council on Conceiving Long Life of 100-Years. Furthermore, important events including U.S. President Trump's visit to Japan and the APEC summit are following this month. Amid the intensifying North Korean situation, we expect that the government will continue to make steady results in the Prime Minister Abe's top priority policy measures across domestic and diplomatic fields related to the economy and security/safety of the public, leading to a map for the society that provides a future hope to young people.
