1. We are very much pleased with today's news of Dr. Akira Yoshino -Honorary Fellow, Asahi Kasei Corporation- chosen for the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
2. Above all, we have the greatest respect for Dr. Yoshino's dedication, as a researcher in the private sector, to the development of the lithium-ion battery, leading to facilitation of everyone's life and substantial contribution to today's society.
3. As Japan endeavors to pave the way for the future with science, technology, and innovation, we hope that this Nobel Prize award provides encouragement and incentive for many researchers in the industrial, governmental, and academic sectors to take on challenges. We are also hopeful of such move producing innovative results.
